Today, in bullet points
- Marymount to talk to Cigler for a second
- Vatican to mail something
- Bar All Brothers to see Donato
- Santa Maria dell'Anima to see the Saraceni there again -- the caretaker lady was really sweet and let me take pictures with a flash!
- Campo de'Fiori to take pictures of a fish being gutted -- it has to do with the Saraceni painting of the Miracle of San Bennone
- Torre Argentina to print some photos of the inscription from Santa Maria dell'Anima
- John Cabot/Trastevere to type up the inscriptions so they'd be more or less legible
- Lunch of spaghetti all'amatriciana and tiramisù
- Class: Caravaggio and the Carracci
- meet at Campidoglio
- Santa Maria in Aracoeli
- Mattei Chapel, as decorated by G. Muziano
- Donatello tomb cover
- tomb of the person who found the Laocoön sculpture group
- Gesù to look at some paintings of angels and the ceiling, which is brilliant
- Biblioteca Angelica, which was amazingly wonderful and fascinating
- Sant'Agostino, because San Luigi dei Francesi is closed on Thursdays, and there's a Caravaggio in Sant'Agostino
- Stops along the Corso to try to find a DVD Fulvia asked me to try to find. Alas, I'll have to try again Monday, because it's quite popular and oft sold out, except at Feltrinelli (not so communist anymore, since they wanted €25 for a DVD that is on sale everywhere else for €9.90).
- A quick, trafficless tram ride, then an hour sitting on the Cassia. Tomorrow is the Festa della Reppublica, when Italians celebrate the end of the monarchy by showcasing their military capabilities. As a result, everyone was leaving Rome for the long weekend and traffic was worse than normal. Additionally, there was intermittent rain, which meant that everyone needed to stop and watch the rain before they could continue driving.
- Ensuing exhaustion.
Tomorrow, I'll write my paper and do my presentation that's due Tuesday.
